Aboriginal name

What is Aboriginal name of lake?--Kaiyr (talk) 18:19, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambig'd as "Uganda" - why?

The current title of the article,

Lake Albert (Uganda), seems rather odd since the lake is 50% in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I think there's a good case to be made for this being the primary topic of the Lake Albert page (currently a disambig). A more acceptable alternative might be Lake Albert (Central Africa) or Lake Albert (Great Lakes).—Brigade Piron (talk) 23:59, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply

The move to the Uganda version was performed unilaterally without discussion (normally, all but the most obvious moves require discussion). As this clearly was a misleading name considering that half the lake is in another country, I have moved it back to the original name. If there is a need for further specification (e.g., Central Africa if there are other similarly named lakes in the continent; I'm not aware of any) it can be done, but otherwise it is better to keep it as simple as possible.

Naming of the Page and Lake

I find it very depressing that the article is being started as "Lake Albert, also Mwitanzige"; The name Mwitanzige is not a former name or some unused name: it is a consequence of colonialism that it is labelled Albert. The article would be more accurate and honest if it were called Lake Mwitanzige, with a redirect from "Lake Albert". The beginning of the Article ought to be "Lake Mwitanzige, also "Albert". This is no mere "Africanism" runt. It's the true fact, and articles prepared in this manner only make actual African facts fall further into bliss, and reduce the quality of Wikipedia for the world. pintert3 (talk) 12:05, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
