This film was never banned. Theaters just refused to book it. It actually played in several East Coast cities. Ecoleetage 01:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chaplin/Bloom three-century careers

There's a paragraph in this article that has no business in an encyclopedia. The paragraph, written in fan-magazine language, notes that between them, Chaplin and Bloom worked in show business in three different centuries. I'll copy it here:

An interesting sidenote is the fact that Chaplin and Bloom were in show business in three different centuries. In the 19th Century, Chaplin made his theatrical debut at the age of eight, in 1897, in the musical The Eight Lancaster Lads. In the 21st Century, Bloom is still enjoying a full and productive career, having appeared in dozens of films and television series by the end of 2008.

I haven't investigated, but I suspect that very many movies made in the middle of the 20th century could make the same claim, and what is the significance, anyway? My grandmother and I lived in a total of three centuries; so what? Is that noteworthy?

It's the sort of tidbit that might be appropriate on a fan site, but it's out of place in an encyclopedia. I'm going to remove it. If anybody feels strongly enough that I'm wrong that he or she must undo this change, so be it.--Jim10701 (talk) 00:08, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm always curious about posts like the above. It's so difficult to define what is "out of place in an encyclopedia." Technically, and encyclopedia should be "encyclopedic." That is, present as much information as possible, both important and "relevant" information as well as little-known facts which may be of interest to a variety of readers. "Jim" may be annoyed at reading about the "three centuries" information, but what right does he have to remove the data so nobody can see it? I personally found it interesting. We should be careful about what we remove from these articles. False information, sure. But information that we just personally don't like, well, don't make judgements for all the readers. Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.12.90.180.254 (talk) 17:46, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Second Version of "The Concert"

Buster Keaton reworked the piano and violin duo he did with Chaplin in Limelight with Martha Raye in the Chaplin role on her TV Show in 1956. This can be seen on a DVD collection of Buster Keaton "Industrial Strengh Keaton". 119.11.8.175 (talk) 11:22, 12 April 2010 (UTC) MBG[reply]
