Demonstration sports
Any demonstration sports in these Games? --Kvasir 08:08, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Demonstration sports were removed from the Olympics after the 1992 Games.--Nitsansh 22:28, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Flag sizes
Anyone who has the time please standardise all the flags to the same size at 20px length-wise please. Thanks. --Kvasir 04:08, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Changes in cross country events
- sprint don't have a fixed length. It changes from one venue to another.
- the 50K/30K event was not removed from the program. It changed from interval start to mass start and from classic to freestyle technic.
- the new event of team sprint (this time in classic style) replaced the 30K/15K event.--Nitsansh 20:59, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Same difference. I'm saying A1 changed to A2, you're saying B2 changed to A2. --Kvasir 06:25, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- It's normal that technics change from one Olympic to another, but the distance remain the same. That's how it goes in cross-country. When the team sprint was introduced, they discontinued the 30K/15K races, or more precisely, turned the 30K/15K into pursuit. That change was made before the 2005 world championship, where the team sprint made its debut.--Nitsansh 01:11, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Luge doubles
see the article on luge.
Technically, women are allowed to compete in doubles, but doubles competitors continue to be almost exclusively male--Nitsansh 21:19, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Of course women are allowed, but not at the Olympic Games. The luge article did not specify which competition women are allowed to compete. That's why the phrasing used the word "technically". I'm sure there are female ski jumpers are well, just not at the Olympics. --Kvasir 06:18, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- doubles is still defined as an open event, not men's event. This is how the IOC and FIL like to see it, and they call the shots.--Nitsansh 01:03, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- I would like to see your source on that. As you said, that's how they like to see it, but that's not reflected what it's happening in reality. --Kvasir 07:05, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- Check the official website of Torino. The event is named doubles and not men's doubles. I agree that in practice it's a men's event. --Nitsansh 02:51, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
