Table
Does anyone else feel that the way that some of the columns and rows are of varying widths is kind of annoying to look at? If it's not going to upset anyone else, I might look at slightly redesigning this table to be a bit cleaner/neater? Falastur2Talk 11:28, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I tried a redesign last year but it got rolled back to the current one. I agree this format can be approved in a number of ways:
Setting standard column widths for league records
Separate cols for division names and tiers
Separate col for UEFA competitions
More abbreviations for miscellaneous competition names so same width as FA Cup and League cup
Better colour differentiation of relegation and promotion years.
Hope those are useful suggestions. Ratchet8865 (talk) 12:18, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly the sort of stuff I was thinking of, yeah. I'll try mocking up an improvement in my userspace and drop it here when I'm done. See what the consensus is when there's a prototype to look at. Falastur2Talk 14:24, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ratchet8865: For the record, I mocked up a prototype here if you want to take a look and give some feedback? Falastur2Talk 16:34, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Falastur2:: Thank you. That's really good. I've made a couple of formatting corrections and added some additional format to keep column widths for the domestic cups and uefa cups consistent. I've also abbreviated the miscellaneous competition names in the table to make this column narrower and less prominent.
The only other possible suggestion I'd make is whether 1st or 2nd place in the 2nd tier division should also be highlighted with gold or silver backgrounds in the final position column, keeping the promotion highlight in the division column. What do you think ? Ratchet8865 (talk) 17:57, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
hmmm...I've habitually strayed away from that as it gives them impression that lower league titles are equivalent to top division titles, but I'd be the last person to claim that minor trophies shouldn't be recognised at all. Perhaps we can find another colour scheme for them? A very faded gold/silver perhaps? Or maybe a copper? Falastur2Talk 21:13, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Falastur2:: OK I've tried a few variations and adjusted the colour scheme as suggested. Ratchet8865 (talk) 23:08, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
