US Metropolitan Area - CSA Confusion
Why, if there is a list of largest METROPOLITAN AREA'S, is every American city cited using the Combined Statistical Area classification instead of their legitimate metropolitan area classification? This highly over-inflates American city sizes, and, with this logic, would Toronto's metropolitan area population be that of the Golden Horseshoe at approximately 9.5 million? 198.166.31.186 (talk) 03:42, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Toronto?
There is a 2011 census of Toronto that has the population listed at 2,615,060 and its Metropolitan Area is listed at 6,053,823. Source: [1] (Toronto's) 2011 Census: Population and Dwelling Counts

Why are there so many South American cities? Isn't it a North American list?
It should be noted that people in the countries from Guatemala to Panama do not consider themselves as part of North America. We believe we are in a separate part called Central America. Central America is well documented in the Spanish version of Wikipedia but for some reason is largely ignored in the English version. Acuna007 (talk) 08:33, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Vancouver?
It is in the top #7 in the top 100, but not in the top 10??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.143.213.178 (talk) 22:20, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
New York?
Why is it that the population of new york metro area is 19 750 000, but the source cited (US Census) cites the total population of New York State as being 19 378 102? — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoahMoth (talk • contribs) 00:25, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- Not all of the NYC Metro happens to be in the NY State. Cities in New Jersey and Connecticut also count in the NYC metro, which therefore makes it more populous than the state. talk) 14:23, 11 August 2014 (UTC)]

American Standards
Worth noting that Canada and U.S.A go by different standards, and that by American standards, the GGH is Toronto's metro, (arund 10ish million)

- It's also worth noting that the US could easily play that game too. If Washington and Baltimore. The point is, the US census Bureau tends to divide metro areas up rather than agglomerate (e.g. LA/San Diego, Chicago/Milwaukee). I think that if both countries went by the same standards, then Toronto would actually be further down the list. --68.114.217.126 (talk) 01:37, 23 February 2014 (UTC)]
- Bud, those are both smaller population wise. Terrible examples. And no, the US could not easily play that game, considering almost every single metropolitan area is over 20,000 km in size... 198.166.31.186 (talk) 18:51, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
