Creation

I created this page since it would be best to separate the list from the actual car bomb article. I have deleted a few things from the previous list in order to condense this somewhat; if there are any problems with these deletions than feel free to change them and/or voice your opinions on the subject. Update needed

this page should be updated, it wasn't updated since May 13.

Proposed changes

I feel like the year column shouldn't have blanks in it. Every row should list the year. With the large number of car bombings each year, it's common to have scroll down to see what year you're looking at. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Balfa (talkcontribs) 14:27, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree completely. I've made some changes to the "1920s–1970s" section and I hope it can be extended to the whole article:
  • the columns can now be sorted.
  • the "year" and "date" columns have been combined into a single "date" column — with the dates in YYYY/MM/DD format, so they can be sorted properly.
  • there is now a column listing the "perpetrator/suspected perpetrator".
  • the "more info" column is now the "article/source" column — to be used for linking either to the article or to a source.
I also propose we change the criteria for inclusion. If we include every bombing where one person was killed, the list will be much too long (Northern Ireland alone will take up half the page). The only bombings we include should be:
  • those in which more than one person was killed
  • those that have an article
Thoughts?

For Iraq, I made an arbitrary decision that any bombing with under 30 deaths will not make the list (with a few exceptions). This will keep the list uncluttered. In general I'd say keep attacks with fewer than 2 deaths off the list though the ones that are on there (Bishopsgate, West Germany, and Madison, Wis.) should stay because they happened in places where that kind of thing is rare.
We should keep bombings that don't have articles because some bombings with lots of deaths were clearly important yet don't have an article. PBP (talk) 17:37, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it seems we're agreed on the criteria for inclusion. I'll add that to the introduction to let people know.
Now, what are your thoughts on the proposed layout?

Why does this article exist?

It's a content fork from list of terrorist incidents with completely arbitrary inclusion and a title that makes no sense. This should be merged back to the year sub-articles for terrorist incidents, with a column added for the type of incident to allow easy searching. 2 lines of K303 13:16, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good point - take it to Afd if that is how you perceive it - its a death project article - it could be the projects first Afd :)

Missing attack?

Jakarta car bomb 'parallels Bali attack' ABC

"Indonesian police say a car bomb which ripped through a Jakarta hotel contained the same cocktail of explosives as the Bali bombs and was detonated by mobile phone - like at least one of the Bali blasts. "

para 8 "The blast at the (Phillipine ?) ambassador's residence in Jakarta in August 2000, which is also blamed on JI, killed two people and injured 21."

Mentioned briefly in Dulmatin article.

"He participated in the car bomb attack on the Phillipine ambassador in Jakarta on 1 August 2000"

NO other mention on Wikipedia AFAIK.

Assassinations by car bombings

Why is this subsection on this page? The bulk of these assassinations have a single death attributed, which is contrary to the title of the page, which stipulates Mass bombings. Unless there are objections, I will move this subsection elsewhere. Kilbosh talk 14:46, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
