There is an RfC regarding the standardization of journal lists names. Please comment at

I've found it useful to use redlinks on lists to indicate articles in need of creation. Granted, there may be better places to do this. Is there a WP editing guideline that addresses using redlinks on lists? Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:37, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

• There's no guideline and you're right about the usefulness of redlinks. The problem is, these journal lists (being the simple unexplained enumerations they are) are veritable spam-magnets. Often journals will get redlinked (or, worse, listed with an external link) that we would never write an article about because they don't meet
  WP:NJournals. Not being a specialist in most of these fields (I'm a neuroscientist), I generally remove redlinks until an article has been created showing real notability, as hardly anyone else watches these lists, not even their creators. I see from your user page that you are a specialist in this field, so please let me know if you have watchlisted this article. In that case, I can remove it from my (way-too-long) watchlist and leave it to you to keep an eye on it (and knowing that you won't introduce redlinks to one of the many predatory open-access journals popping up all over the please in search for a fast buck). --Guillaume2303 (talk) 10:47, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply

  • Thanks for your reply. I have now found a guideline, WP:Red link, which is helpful. It suggests not using redlinks on list pages, templates or navigation boxes, but rather on WikiProject pages or a personal page.
