The Information about Live365 seems more like spam to mddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddde then a detailed history of live365. Perhaps the person who wrote it should sit down and tell us The founding creators name, a little bit about his past and shareholders or other forms of history. When I read the information about live365 on Wikipedia, it almost seemed like a brochure of some kind. Please, What is the name or names of the people who started it. How did they create the company and how has it evolved. Thats what Wikipedia is all about.

And I'm not singling live365 out. I have come across other online services that have done the same thing. Just advertisments instead of a detailed history. I could have read this information of their own faq sheet. Im not sure where this post will go, but I created it for all to see. feedback if you like.

Does anyone know anything about why when I run Ad-Aware, live365.com shows up as a "Critical object" , showing live365 as spyware!

I had the same spyware experience. It looks like my wife picked up a tracking cookie from Live365 so I googled it and ended up here. It looks like they rely on advertising to some extent so I guess they could have placed the cookie except that my wife, who works from her own logon, is an internet novice and it is very unlikely that she knows anything about Live365 either. We both stick pretty much to known sites for shopping, don't open spams or e-mail from people we don't know. I sure would like to know the answer to this one.

What Adaware is detecting is a tracking cookie placed by Live 365. Here's my experience, which may explain yours. My default browser is Firefox. Live 365 has no plugin for Firefox, which has 10% browser usage in the US and higher in Europe. Firefox users are forced to install an Internet Explorer tab to use Live 365. After filling out the requisite forms, receiving the requisite email link, etc. I discovered that it was necessary to loosen the cookie control I still use on IE. The best way to prevent installation of tracking cookies is to use cookie control, easily accessible w/ Firefox, not so easily but still accessible w/ IE. Live 365 doesn't allow use of cookie control--it demands that users set their browsers to accept all cookies. Unfortunately I won't be using Live 365. Please note that Real Player is cleverer. I think that with some work, the page can easily be edited so that it is purely informative.

Deletion would set a bad precedent....

My thoughts: Deletion of an article about Live365 would be outright irresponsible. Live365 is not just a notable service in its own right, but it has been historically significant to the overall evolution of Internet radio. Yeah, I agree that this page has a lot of self-promotion or ad-looking content. I deleted the Future Plans section since it contained no information and just said that "Live365 was committed to making internet radio awesome and had a lot of cool plans for the future." I recently (about three months ago) bought a new Windows Vista system and have noticed there seems to be a problem with listening to Live365 stations. Whenever I load a station I get a message telling me that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and is trying to fix it, then that it is restarting. I find myself being returned to my home page. According to their instructions deleting IE temporary files and cookies should solve the problem, but doesn't appear to for me. Always worked find with XP. Anyone know what's going on here? Also I think we should mention this in the article. I daresay other people have had the same problem. Are you using a 32 or 64 bit system? I've read somewhere that that their software doesn't support 64 bit systems at present, but that they're working on it. TopDec (talk) 12:08, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have a 64bt Vista machine and have found it works if you minimize the Live365 Player window before the station has properly launched. When you launch whichever station you want to listen to, wait for the green "continue" prompt, click on it then minimize the window as quick as you can before the blue window has loaded. I'm not sure whether this is true of all Vista systems, but I have a "show desktop" option on the task bar which minimizes everything. It should run fine then in the background. This works for Internet Explorer, although I did try to run it through Firefox, but there was no sound. Hope this helps. Also I think we should mention this if this is a common problem, which it sounds like it could be. Cheers.

Just an update on this. I've discovered it works fine with Google Chrome, so I'm guessing the problem is with Internet Explorer.

This entry is a disaster. The writing is atrocious. And the Live365 described as ongoing in the first paragraph is revealed in the second paragraph to be out of business.

Some talk entries are just bizarre.
