I'd love to add something to this article about Nick, the incredibly grumpy, unfriendly and unhelpful man who used to staff the station (is he still there?). But I know it wouldn't be very encyclopedic. Oh well. --

I for one think there's nothing wrong with adding "human interest" if it's relevant and – crucially – referenced. If you could find, for example, an Evening Argus feature on him, that would surely be good enough. An alternative (sneaky) way would be to find a photo of him; it could be used to illustrate the station, but a tiny note about him in the caption would probably survive... ;) – Kieran T ^{(talk | contribs)} 12:04, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had to laugh when I read this - I remember him clearly and with little fondness! I always thought he looked a bit like Freddie Mercury (mid/late 80s-era). I collect Platform Tickets, which even cheerful and willing booking clerks hesitate to sell you these days, so you can imagine his reaction when I bought one back in December 1995! He always used to spot me picking up discarded tickets in the booking office as well, which caused him to glare in a scary way. (I Googled him with his full name, which I won't reveal here but which used to be on his badge, but didn't come up with anything.) --Hassocks5489 13:10, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, sadly I couldn't find anything about him that I could add to the article either. Yes, he had a Freddie moustache, so we're talking about the same person. One of his favourite tactics was to deliberately take as long as humanly possible to issue and process payment for a ticket, while the Brighton train was pulling up at the platform outside. He really wanted to make people miss that train. --
