Saskatoon Market Mall

I don't know if the Saskatoon version of Market Mall is notable enough to warrant a separate article (I've seen more notable malls deleted through AFD), but if anyone wants to give it a try, feel free! 23skidoo 17:59, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I REALLY don't think that categories should be added to an article about a subject that does not directly pertain to the categories themselves. THIS article is about Market Mall in Calgary.... I don't understand why there should be categories relating it to a similarily named mall in a different province. If we need to disambiguate, then FINE, but let's actually do that then. If you don't think that Saskatoon Market Mall needs an article and if other users agree, then why are we even bothering? Otherwise, just make a stub and then disambiguate as necessary. --Arch26 01:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please review Wikipedia:Etiquette. I found your edit summary completely unprofessional and uncalled for. There are other articles where such things are done. This is not a case of me being confused. This sort of attitude is likely to get you blocked from editing. 23skidoo 01:12, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Edit summary notwithstanding, I believe Arch26 is right, if you think that mall has a place at wikipedia, you should create a relevant article and a disambiguation page. An article should not cover two subjects just because they share a name (that's what disambiguation pages are for). If this is the case in other articles, those are wrong too. It's not you that is confused, but someone looking up that subject will be. --

I apologize for my edit summary. I do, however, stand by my initial comment. Adding conflicting categories can only lead to confusion and I can't think of any situation where such a thing would be necessary. --Arch26 02:01, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other uses
Market Mall is also the name of the oldest and second-largest shopping centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which opened in the 1960s and has undergone numerous extensions and renovations in the decades since. It was the first enclosed shopping centre to open in Saskatoon (and possibly the entire province). The mall is currently anchored by Zeller's and Safeway.

since no other arguments have been made, I removed the preceding paragraph from the article. --

Rather than remove it wholesale, why don't you create a separate article? Incidentally since the Saskatoon Market Mall is older than Calgary's, it should be given the disambiguated name Market Mall and this article needs to be renamed Market Mall (Calgary). 23skidoo 14:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have no knowlwdge whatsoever about the Saskatoon Mall. Again, please feel free to implement the changes you propose. Happy editing. --

Since disambiguation is a perfectly normal part of Wikipedia, I don't think anybody will stop you from moving "Market Mall" to "Market Mall (Calgary)", creating a disambig page called "Market Mall", and a stub called "Market Mall (Saskatoon)". Since I, like Qyd, have never heard of the building in Saskatoon, I would say that it's up to 23skidoo to make this change. I don't think further discussion is necessary. And for the record, I'm not convinced that the Saskatoon market mall could compete with Calgary's in terms of article significance (despite its age). The Calgary Mall is among the largest and most profitable in western Canada. --Arch26 06:02, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Target not open yet

To whomever is adding Target as currently in business in Market Mall, Chinook, etc, please stop. The stores are being rebuilt as Target but none of them (as of February 2013) are open yet. Some are expected to open sometime in the second half of 2013, while others won't open until 2014. 70.72.211.35 (talk) 00:29, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
