Minister of Agriculture (Canada) → Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food (Canada) – The department has been called “Agriculture and Agri-Food” legally since 1994 (Act of Parliament), and we tend to be pretty proactive in renaming and moving articles to match the proper title. The only reason I’m putting the request in is because this page has had the same naming since it was created in 2003, so I wasn’t sure if there was some precedent why we hadn’t moved this page. - I believe WP:COMMONNAME trumps this notion of "accuracy". We use common names, not official names on Wikipedia, and the proposed title is so cumbersome that it seems unlikely to be the common name. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:12, 23 November 2019 (UTC)]

- Leaning oppose. Based on a brief search of sources like The Globe and Mail, The Star, and CBC, it seems like the old and new title are both commonly used in RS coverage (from after the official name change). The current title has the advantage of applying naturally to everyone listed in this article, whereas "Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food" is anachronistic when applied to 80% of the list. - Support It seems to me that the convention is for Cabinet minister articles to use their current name. See Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, etc. Also, if this move does go through, the disambiguation is unnecessary as it is the only Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. - Fair point! I wasn’t sure if the disambiguation was always necessary for ministerial titles. I would agree with leaving out the "(Canada)" part ArmosNights (talk) 13:26, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Spraying crops before harvest:. As the honorable minister is from PEI, he may not be aware that farmers are spraying their crops before harvesting their grain. They use a product that is similar to Round up to dry the grain. This leaves some residual dangerous chemicals on the grain. As well it must be dangerous for farmers. Europe does not accept this practice as I try to eat only bio grains I try to avoid this risque. However most Canadiens are not aware of this practice. Chemical companies promote this costly practice,,, it must stop. As well it will start to prevent export of Canadian grain! 184.144.201.15 (talk) 15:09, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
