The result of the move request was: not moved. No support, and no wonder IMO, the sweeping statement that it's not the primary topic is unlikely, the grok stats notwithstanding (which I note is very much a beta service), and the statement that the title itself looks generic is vague but seems to apply to a large majority of song titles. Mother and Child ReunionMother and Child Reunion (song) – Not the primary topic actually. While a "classic", the title itself looks generic. Also, the numbers of this song is the same as the the tv episode. George Ho (talk) 21:28, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. There are only two topics, therefore an additional disambiguation page is not needed at all. Navigational assistance is adequately provided by the hatnote. bd2412 T 17:09, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose song is the primary topic.

I get it that the process is closed. And i want to endorse the non-move, even tho esp. since i've vastly diversified the Dab'n in creating the Mother and Child Reunion (disambiguation) page (incidentally contrary to bd's reason for opposing): the song, in its original incarnation, was, and remains, primary and that topic should continue to occupy the unsuffixed title.

RE: 'inspired by Simon's grief over the death of his family's dog [citation needed]'

I've never done this before, so apologies in advance for any etiquette errors.

I was looking for the meaning of this song and read this article. Then I checked out an article about it on snopes.com, and it gives additional info regarding the Chinese dish, as well as the dog's death.

Here is the quote about the dog's death:

"[L]ast summer we had a dog that was run over and killed, and we loved this dog. It was the first death I had ever experienced personally. Nobody in my family died that I felt that. But I felt this loss — one minute there, next minute gone, and then my first thought was, "Oh, man, what if that was [my wife] Peggy? What if somebody like that died? Death, what is it, I can't get it." And there were lyrics straight out forward like that. The chorus for "Mother and Child Reunion" — well, that's out of the title. Somehow there was a connection between this death and Peggy and it was like Heaven, I don't know what the connection was. Some emotional connection. It didn't matter to me what it was. I just knew it was there."

This was according to "The Rolling Stone Interview with Paul Simon" by Jon Landau, in Rolling Stone, July 20, 1972.

As I said, I've never done this before, so I don't want to edit or add to the article myself. I'm afraid I'd screw up rather dreadfully.
