We need to get some images loaded up on this page. Wiki has been been strict with loading photographs from other sites and such, so I'll try and get some of pictures my own collection... I encourage everyone to load what they can.

Danish variant (Not Norwegian)

I'm afraid the following part of the article is not quite correct: "Several variants of the 9800X existed, most notably, models that featured a 10-character alpha-numeric liquid crystal display (LCD), which backlit in green. These uncommon variants were made for the Norwegian Storno and Italian SIP networks in the early 90's."

Storno was in fact a Danish company, producing radio equipment and mobile phones. It was one of the pioneers in the development of the NMT-net. In 1976 it was taken over by General Electric and in 1986 sold to Motorola. Motorola moved the production out of Denmark, but kept – and even expanded – the research department.

The name Storno was gradually phased out, but for a period some models was sold under both names. A model, similar to the Micro TAC but with a dot matrix display, was sold by the name Storno Personal. One Danish source even claims, that in fact the phone was developed in Copenhagen. I can’t verify that, but since Motorola acquired Storno for its expertise in NMT technology, it is plausible that the research dept. in Copenhagen at least played a significant role.

For photos of the Storno Personal, see http://www.stornotime.dk/images/StornoData/storno-personal-a.jpg, http://www.stornotime.dk/images/StornoData/storno-personal-b.jpg, http://www.stornotime.dk/images/StornoData/storno-personal-c.jpg and http://www.stornotime.dk/images/StornoData/storno-personal-d.jpg. For a short history of Storno in English, see http://www.stornotime.dk/sider/stornotimes.htm#uk

NB: I have no personal affiliation to neither Storno nor the website referenced LKCH (talk) 13:35, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MicroTAC phones in media

I do not understand the relevance of this section; is it a diary of product placement? What is the point? Heenan73 (talk) 18:14, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
