I remember seeing a short film in school in the late 70s called "My Old Man" with the same plot. But I don't think it's this one because I'm 99% sure the protaganist was a boy not a girl. It might have been a lot shorter too, like maybe a TV episode? I can't find such a film in IMDB though. Does anybody else have information on this? If so, reply on my Talk page too.
