Title

The NBA refers to the list of as "the NBA 75", "NBA 75th Anniversary Team". For the 1996 list, it is referred to The 50 Greatest Players in NBA History, NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team, among others. Opening discussion on what should be the page's main title, and what should be the redirect pages. --AMIAHEROYET 21:02, 19 October 2021

50 Greatest Players in NBA History → 50 Greatest Players in NBA History
NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team → NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, 75th Anniversary Team
75 Greatest Players in NBA History → 75 Greatest Players in NBA History
"the NBA 75" mean "the whole season", not just "the list" [1]. I only accept "NBA 75th Anniversary Team" or "75 Greatest Players in NBA History". --寒吉 (talk) 06:38, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The NBA 75 → [2]

The NBA does officially refers to the list as both "75th Anniversary Team" and "The NBA 75" in its formal announcement, and uses "NBA 75" to refer to the season. No idea what they'll continue to use, but "NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team" seems more common. --amiaheroyet

I can't found any formal announcement use "The NBA 75" , if you would say this one, I can't accept it. "This is the NBA 75" more like "This is the NBA 75 season", and "The" of "The NBA 75" just definite article, "The" doesn't should include in article's tittle. --寒吉 (talk) 06:53, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added these independent sources for "NBA 75" to the lead": [3][4] While "NBA 75" is a NBA marketing campaign for the season, we should weigh independent sources heavier, which more often refer to it for the 75 players.—Bagumba (talk) 08:17, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remove 75 Greatest Players in NBA History I don't see it widely used so far. Since it's only from a non-independent NBA tweet, I've removed it from the lead also.—Bagumba (talk) 08:21, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To update or not to update stats

Would it make more sense to:

  • A) provide stats up to the 2020-2021 NBA season to show the context in which the decisions were made?
  • B) update as each season finishes to capture the full picture of the active players' careers?

WP:FL and has the updated stats. All things being equal, should be consistent.—Bagumba (talk) 16:13, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply

I'd vote for option A. It's interesting and useful to see the bases on which players and coaches were selected on and it's something which is actually relatively hard to find for still active players/coaches. Getting up-to-date stats is far easier.
And keeping all stats up to date is actually a bit of a chore. I remember that on one of those greatest xxx in history pages the list was inconsistent: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:50_Greatest_Players_in_NBA_History&diff=prev&oldid=1094070973
And the inconsitency between articles is even worse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNBA_All-Decade_Team claims Note: all information only pertains to the first ten seasons of the league's existence. and actually does it like that, whereas the 15 and 20 year teams have a similar note but the stats are updated. But starting a discussion on the talkpage led to exactly nothing.
IOW: I'm all for consitency and I would keep this page as it is and correct the 50 year page.
(and just because it's a FA doesn't mean it's perfect or cannot be improved or should be the standard for other pages - it's loced because of vandalism, but that's an entirely diffeerent matter) 165.1.194.41 (talk) 12:16, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes,
consensus changes there.—Bagumba (talk) 12:53, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply

Original research

I've tagged some statements as possble

original research
, including mention of:

  • Players not yet in the Hall of Fame
  • Players that have died
  • Players most recently drafted

The statements seem true, but we shouldn't mention them if secondary sources haven't done so in the context of the 75th anniversary list. If sources can be identified, we can then

decide if it's worth mentioning.—Bagumba (talk) 10:09, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply

lock for the moment

I reverted to the version of 16:53, 8 June 2022‎ by Bagumba and suggest locking the articel for the time being. Otherwise there'll be a lot of reverting to do. Until the hype about the 2022 Champ has died down a bit. 199.253.103.242 (talk) 11:51, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

15 Greatest Coaches in NBA History

I changed "present" to 2021 for Kerr, Pop etc., comparable to the players' list. Less misleading.

And removed the "ongoing" record, keeping only the historical one. We can record up-to-date records elsewhere, not on this singular event page. 199.253.103.242 (talk) 15:30, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Kerr

Steve Kerrs championship count is outdated (doesn’t have 2022 ring) — Preceding unsigned comment added by KingLorule (talkcontribs) 13:44, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Because this list covers the players and their accomplishments from 2021 and before, so the Warriors hadn't won the championship yet. -- ZooBlazertalk 05:30, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
