Multiple Issues with this article

I'm not at all sure that this holiday merits its own encyclopedia entry. It doesn't appear that there is much to say about the subject. Putting that major issue aside, the material that is here isn't encyclopedic in tone and clearly expresses a point of view. Historical material duplicates that in the main article on Qatar and in Qatari history. Entire article is, moreover, completely unsourced (references don't actually relate to anything on page).

Rather than nominating entire article for deletion, I'm planning on (a) getting rid of history section, which isn't a history of the holiday, (b) deleting the most eggregious of the POV statements. This isn't going to leave much more than a stub.--

Original research

The first half of the article includes citations, but there are multiple claims in the second half of the article that do not cite any sources. Without citations, they constitute original research (see

WP:CITE

):

"... out of a society of conflicting tribes, devoid of security and order" (would need a citation about e.g. early history of Qatar)
"expressions of affection and gratitude are conveyed to the people of Qatar who cooperated in solidarity and vowed allegiance and obedience" (would need a citation e.g. about such expressions)
"Qatar National Day ... is intended to maintain a knowledge and appreciation of Qatar's heritage, and to encourage pride in Qatar." (would need a citation e.g. to a decree or description of the holiday which emphasizes these aspects as the main focus of the national day)

Qatar national day

Qatar National Day marks the date of sucession (December 18, 1878) of Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani, the founder of the State of Qatar, who ruled Qatar during 1878 – 1913.

He ran the affairs of the country along with his ageing father, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Thani, in 1876. Following the passing away of his father on 18 December 1878, he took over. 78.100.192.203 (talk) 15:35, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
