Techno version (?) from David Bowie

The article says that the original David Bowie version for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack was a techno music song, and that the lyrics track was also sent to Massive Attack for a different mix. The article also states that both versions are included in the Moulin Rouge! album... but that doesn't seem to be case. It is true that there are two versions of Nature Boy on the soundtrack: the David Bowie + Massive Attack version (track 15) and a David Bowie + orchestra version (track 1). But the previously described "techno" version is nowhere to be heard. Was this version released somewhere else, or only included in the movie but not in the released album? If the techno version was never relased, I suggest to rephrase the article to make it clear that it was canceled --216.221.62.2 (talk) 14:06, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chelovechek:: There is no need to include those versions of Yablokoff's name here. Were this an article about Yablokoff - and one certainly needs to be written about him - it would be appropriate to include them. But this article is on English Wikipedia, and it is about the song, not the person. So, I agree with IndianBio that their inclusion is unnecessary here. Dvořák (again?)

Not sure if and how this has been said before, but the 2nd. movement of Dvořák's piano quintet No2 starts and develops the same theme as nature boy. (Here with music and notes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SInKlybxgQw) - imho this could be mentioned in the article, as the resemblance to another piece of music ("Shvayg mayn harts") has also been covered. Big Star covered Nature boy on their 1978 album

I was listening to "Third," Big Star's third and last album from 1978. They covered this song. I am familiar with Nat King Cole's version so I recognized it. Introduction

The last four sentences, beginning with "When Cole was performing", of the first paragraph of the introduction seem overly detailed for the introduction. And they replicate what is already in the "Background and development" section. To eliminate redundancy, I would like to delete the four sentences. Does this seem sensible? The lead does need to be trimmed - there is too much unnecessary detail, and some duplication. But the trimming needs to be carried out across the whole of the introduction, rather than by simply deleting four sentences. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Little Prince

The novella, Antoine Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince, was released a few years before Nature Boy. The lyrics of the song describe The Little Prince; is this really just a coincidence? 2601:245:4600:CF00:8C1B:647F:4D4B:F58E (talk) 01:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's generally agreed that the song is at least partially autobiographical, and I haven't heard anything about it being inspired by The Little Prince, so I think any narrative similarities probably are just that---a coincidence. If you are aware of any reliable sources that record this inspiration or claim it, then that might merit inclusion, but Wikipedia doesn't publish original research or hunches. Because, as I mentioned in my edit summary, the addition of a song cover didn't satisfy the criteria for inclusion per

Firstly, I don't speak Italian, so no, I wouldn't have looked at the Italian Wikipedia article. Secondly, even if the artists are notable, and even if the album on which the cover appears is notable, that doesn't mean that the cover of this particular song is notable. If the Italian Wikipedia article has a source that discusses this cover of the song in some detail, you're welcome to copy that source over here. It's entirely reasonable for editors to remove newly-added unsourced information and notify the editor who added it, which is exactly what I did, and as I said, I already explained my reasoning in my edit summary at the time.
