I do not know if this should be included, but WFAN reported yesterday that NYP was built on the grounds of the former home of the NY Highlanders (I think that was the name of the baseball team at the turn of the century). I think Howie brought it up during the Mets-Yankees game.

This article is full of puffery, unsupported attributions, PR marketing copy direct from NYP content, not third party. The primary contributor is 140.251.197.17 which is a Cornell Weill IP address http://whatmyip.co/view/ip_addresses/2365310208/140.251.197.0_140.251.197.255 which I believe constitutes COI. It also for the most part conflates two actual hospitals, Columbia ( http://profiles.health.ny.gov/hospital/view/106811 ) and Cornell Weill ( http://profiles.health.ny.gov/hospital/view/102961 )

If I added too many tags I apologise, I believed I was doing it the right way. Here are my issues with this article:

Statement 1

1. "A major international and regional referral center, the hospital is considered among the best in the world and is currently ranked 6th in the United States and 1st in the New York City metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report.[2]"

I propose that the first two statements are opinion, and should be deleted, leaving

"The hospital currently ranked 6th in the United States and 1st in the New York City metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report (2015).[2]"

Statement 2

2. "It is a 2,478 bed hospital, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive hospitals in the United States.[1] "

Number of beds do not make a comprehensive hospital, the number of services do. (Further, the state body that regulates hospitals does not conflate the multiple bed counts into one). I propose changing to

"It is a 2,478 bed hospital, making it one of the largest hospitals in the United States.[1]"

I will gloss over the fact that this is a clever way to combine five hospitals, call it one hospital, and claim to be the largest.

Statement 3

3. "New York–Presbyterian Emergency Medical Services (NYP-EMS) is the largest hospital-based ambulance service in the City of New York.[11]"

The reference listed is NYP saying NYP is the largest. This is self-referencing and does not constitute a valid source. I spent 30 minutes trying to obtain the relevant data or find a suitable reference for this claim, none was found. I propose deleting the sentence.

Statement 4

4. "The NYPH system includes a variety of outlying hospitals that had previously been acquired by NYH or Presbyterian; these hospitals stretch throughout the five boroughs, Westchester County, Long Island and New Jersey. In the name of the hospital, there is no space in "NewYork"."

This sentence begins to speak about the system, then inexplicably makes a statement about the individual hospital's branding. I propose (a) linking to the NYPH System article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NewYork%E2%80%93Presbyterian_Healthcare_System ) and (b) removing the branding statement (it's in the first sentence of the article already).

Statement 5

5. "It has an international operations department as well; in 2009, the hospital hired prominent medical researcher and vascular surgeon Kenneth Ouriel to head this department.[8][9]"

Is this truly notable? Is this particular surgeon truly prominent? Where is this department? What does it do? Why is it noteworthy? This sentence sounds like clear promotional content to me. Happy to hear other opinions. 69.124.77.178 (talk) 19:45, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since there's a standing consensus against lists of notable deaths in hospital articles, and what seems to be a developing consensus against it as well in the new RfC, it does not seem proper for the list to be on the article's talk page either, since (1) the talk page is intended for discussions about how to improve the article, and (2) putting it on the talk page simply seems like a way to get around not being allowed to have it in the article itself.
