In the 90's I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Eventually I was started on this drug and for me it worked, although I understand it does not for everyone. It was a low dosage and took a few weeks to work. I took it for about a year and then was weaned off it slowly. That was more than 10 years ago and the fibromyalgia hasn't returned.Nancynew (talk) 20:24, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the Netherlands it is still used a lot for depression, where it is the most prescribed tricyclic (followed by Clomipramine). Furthermore, my psychiatrist (with over 25 years of experience with treating MDD) says Nortriptyline is certainly much more effective than Moclobemide (which he finds little more effective than placebo). If you search for studies with google scholar you will find both studies suggesting Nortriptyline is less effective as well as equally (or even more) effective as ssri's. Does nortriptyline cause restless syndrome to be worse. This classification of antidepressants see to cause this in my restless legs. But, I am hoping a small dose might help my neuropathy pain.
