Historic irony

Is there some way to indicate the fact that the people who received this aid were all Hutus, most of them the perpetrators of the genocide? The article has a wonderful "US to the rescue!" kind of tone to it, but rather hysterically, the US was feeding and sheltering the blood-soaked Hutus who fled the country after the RPF took control. I suspect no one will add anything about this to the article, since, as of this posting, history reflects the Operation better the way the article is currently written. Jeez, for the amount of effort it took to be this condescending and better-than-thou, you could have made this stub unworthy of your condescension. Thanks for nothing. - BanyanTree 12:38, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Amount of effort? It took me roughly less than 30 seconds to type that. Part of why I posted a discussion note here, instead of noting the recipients of the aid within the actual article, is because the edit would probably be reverted and I'd get a shiny new
National Security Letter for posting it. Blue Danube (talk) 05:51, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply

As the one who made an attempt to start the article, I certainly don't have any problem with there being a "Criticism" block in the article about why Support Hope might have been unfair or politically motivated. As long as there's references to back it up it shouldn't be a problem. -Rolypolyman (talk) 16:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for being fair-minded about it. The books I read on this are somewhere in the pile at the foot of my bed, when I find time to dig them up and get the proper chapters, I'll write this portion up and reference it. Blue Danube (talk) 19:01, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was attached to the operation in Kenya in a support role, but I wasn't privy to any backroom aspects of it. Interestingly when I combed the net (and should have added references) I will say that nearly all of the info I found was very basic or covered a highly detailed aspect of it. I did find one reference (an ebook I think) that was highly critical of problems in military-civilian airlift coordination. I think if I was going to work on the article some more (or when I do) I'd go back to newspaper databases, i.e. Washington Post, or Seattle Post in hopes of finding a more balanced view. -Rolypolyman (talk) 03:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great Lakes refugee crisis, which I hadn't realized wasn't linked from here, has some detail on the political/humanitarian mess, though not much about the U.S. role. Citations weren't expected back when I drafted that article, but the contents of the initial draft, which is still the vast majority of the article, is backed up by the external links at the bottom, some of which may be useful for the article here. - BanyanTree 04:27, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
