Guy Gibson and other aces

Was Pembrey the base for 106 squadron (Gibson's squadron)? Who were the other aces based at the station? Pete 23:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pete, Gibson never flew operationally while at Pembrey - he only attended a six week navigation course at the school there as a junior officer - and as far as I am aware 106 were never based at Pembrey 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 07:16, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Pembrey Airport?

I don't believe it is customary to have independent articles for each Usage of the same site? And oddly Pembrey Airport has way more military history than this military article!Yellowxander (talk) 15:27, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - but before losing an article on a former RAF station, it should be proposed at category level? I'm not sure how to do that - perhaps someone can advise. I'll put a note on Talk:Pembrey Airport, too. Tony Holkham (talk) 22:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to "lose" this, so long as we preserve useful content into the target article and we keep a categorized redirect too. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:10, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you up for that? I've only merged once before and made a bit of a hash of it. I know, we all have to learn... Tony Holkham (talk) 23:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've tagged it. Give it a few days to see if it raises any comments. Andy Dingley (talk) 08:45, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant, thanks. Tony Holkham (talk) 09:09, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pembrey West Wales International Airport is just one of several users of the airfield. To merge under the heading "Pembrey Airport" would seem to be misleading or even self serving. "RAF Pembrey" may or may not be the right title, Pembrey Airfield is one alternative. The history on "Pembrey Airport" could be transferred to "RAF Pembrey", if properly sourced. However the current amount of sourcing on "Pembrey Airport" suggests the information and plans might better be only on a commercial site outside Wiki. Hi SV/AD. Just revisited this discussion by accident and see it was left hanging; maybe I will tackle it, unless you want to? Let me know. Best wishes...Tony Holkham (talk) 11:11, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am not active at the moment, so if you have time, great.SovalValtos (talk) 19:18, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Good to hear from you. Tony Holkham (talk) 19:38, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

History

I have transferred much of the RAF history from Pembrey Airport to this more appropriate article and am looking for citations to support the largely-unreferenced text rather than just deleting what seems to me important historical info that just needs sourcing. If any RAF enthusiasts out there can help, please do! Tony Holkham (talk) 13:07, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not merge

I've removed the merge templates from this article and Pembrey Airport as there was little discussion about it, and am in the process of getting both articles up to a better standard. Tony Holkham (talk) 13:10, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
