The 1900 Mortgage Bank Act (HBG) is deemed pioneering legislation until today.

Please consider a reference to the Danish Mortgage Act of 1850, cf. the entry

.

The Danish act was inspired by the works of A. F. Bergsøe, especially "Udkast til en Kreditforening for danske Grundbesiddere" (Draft for a mortgage credit association for Danish landowners), 1839, which again drew on German experiences.
