0.01% or 1,780 people is about 0.17 people !!! It is impossible. If only 1 inhabitant was native american, that would be 0.056% (5 time bigger than the number stated)

Concerning the "Pine Bush, NY" page, an author, incidentally from New Jersey, continues to edit the page for his own personal advertisment. Specifically, his section on UFO's is solely there to help pedal his book (for which he includes a link) and has little relevance to the town and it's current facts and issues. The root of this problem is how someone, not even from the town, is able to effectively take over the page for self promotion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.108.160.223 (talk • contribs)

• I don't think Wikipedia has a rule about where you live when you edit a page, though it is not fond of self promotion. Has this issue been raised on the talk page of the article? This is the first thing to do when you have a dispute. It is quite wrong to add comments like "Pine Bush doesn't want an author from NJ to use our town's page for self promotion" into a page, discussions belong on the talk page. "Pine Bush" should also understand that it does not "own" this article, that it is not there for the purposes of the promotion of the town either. Notinasnaid 19:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to imply that the Hamlet of Pine Bush = the census-designated place of Pine Bush. My inclination is to doubt this. Many census-designated places do not = the totality of a municipality / township / city / whatever, but can either be a portion thereof or encompass far more. "It is well known for its UFO sightings. The Unidentified air-crafts seem to go from south to north in most cases. There is some speculation that these air-crafts are stealth bombers deployed from a nearby military airbase."

These are fanciful and overblown statements. A few people claimed to see weird lights in the sky and suddenly PB is "well-known" for sightings? Most people who live in the area are extremely surprised when I ask them about UFOs in PB. They have no clue that a few people claim it's supposed to be such a hotbed of activity. It's a rare newspaper article indeed that even alludes to such a thing. So, no, it's not even "well-known" around the Town of Crawford, let alone nationally. This seems to be the equivalent of saying that the KKK is based in PB because a "grand wizard" lives/lived there (don't know if he still does - hope not).

The last two sentences give the stamp of credibility to the existence of UFOs. There's not even neutrality, forget skepticism. Just the bald "fact" that the unidentified craft fly S --> N. Maybe they're coming from tiny Randall's Airport just outside of Middletown, NY, due south of PB? (Not apologizing for the sarcasm.) The "nearby military airbase" is Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh. How many times are stealth bombers seen there? Maybe they're hiding inside the huge C-5s that DO fly all over Orange County from their base at Stewart. There are fighter jets seen there and ANG planes, but I personally have never seen a stealth bomber there; nearly the entire runway is clearly visible from nearby public highways and planes taking off and landing most definitely are - there's no hiding such a thing as a stealth bomber at Stewart. http://dmna.state.ny.us/forts/fortsQ_S/stewartAirForceBase.htm & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_Air_National_Guard_Base

It appears the local school district is involved in some sort of controversy. First question is, does that district have its own Wiki page and if so why isn't this stuff being posted there? Second, as this is material that could cause serious damage to peoples reputations and livelyhoods, we must take care to use reliable sourcing for it. I do not see a blog as that. Yes there is a page for the school district and the controversy is mentioned there. Yes there are good sources for this, new york times, Israel Times, Times Herald-Record.

As written the article simply states there is a lawsuit. Nothing to be concerned about, simply facts of a notable event relating to the district. SPACKlick (talk) 12:33, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The key words in your response is "about the district". This is an encyclopedia, not a newspaper. After the event has worked thru whatever process it is in, the results may be relevant to an encyclopedia article about the city. Maybe not. We cannot at this time know. It should only be mentioned at the district's page as the district takes in more area than just the town. Currently, the district's page doesn't mention the controversy. I have no problem with the way the controversy it written up now. However, an editor has been pushing this link and I've tried to delete it. Bgwhite (talk) 18:04, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The lawsuit does have a rather minute mention in the lede of the school district's article. I just tweaked the wording in this article for a bit more neutrality of tone, but all the time I was doing it I was asking myself "Why on earth is this section here?" I agree with John from Idegon that the detail, such as it is, belongs in the district article. I propose to move the current section from here intact to a new section at the district, and copy the existing sentence from the lede at the district to a mini-paragraph in the district's section here, if nobody has a serious objection.
