Endorsements section removed

I removed the "Endorsements" section. It's simply not neutral;

NPOV doesn't mean we can't describe other people's opinions of Powell's, but "endorsements" implies a hand-picked list of positive comments, not a balanced discussion of opinions about the store. It's advertising, and the quotes lack context that might make them informative anyway. CDC (talk) 23:59, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply

DVDs

Powell's sells DVDs now too, although only online (i.e. all DVDs are stocked only in their Duffman Warehouse). The "since 2005" assertion in the article is based on looking at Internet Archive and at the Internet Retailer article used to update the inventory size, though all that one can definitely conclude with those sources is that as of April 2005 DVDs were not for sale and by December 2005 they were. There doesn't appear to have been a press release announcing the availability of DVDs on the Powell's website. 66.167.136.147 12:21, 27 February 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Tony Hawk???

What is Tony Hawk doing in that list of famous people who like powells? he isn't exactly part of the intellectual elite, or even an author, or anything.

unionization

A mention of the controversy surrounding this businesses' firm opposition to the now-successful efforts at organizing its labor force needs to be added. I'll be looking for some sources.

Chicago Roots

I don't know the history of Powell's Books, but do know that there are three branches of Powell's in Chicago. This article is incomplete without a discussion of these branches and possibly information on the bookstore's history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.112.172.29 (talk) 01:15, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's a different company (although there is family history involved, as already mentioned in the main article). --Orange Mike 16:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's hardly clear from the article that the Powell's locations in Chicago are a different company; in fact it only made sense to me after reading the above comment and then returning to the article to clarify. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.66.232 (talkcontribs) 21:15, September 19, 2007
I attempted to clarify with my latest edit. --Orange Mike 14:30, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
