As far as I am aware, this competition is only called Barclays Asia Trophy in 2007, when it was hosted in Hong Kong. Barclays did not sponsor the 2003 and 2005 editions and it was known as the FA Premier League Asia Trophy. Ngchikit 08:26, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, you are right. Barclays is just a sponsor name. KyleRGiggs 19:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, by the way, the name of 2003 edition is called FA Premier League Asia Cup. KyleRGiggs 03:57, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Selection?

How are teams selected for this cup? IceDragon64 (talk) 22:01, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relegation

It doesn't seem to have happened yet, but would a team still be able to compete if they were relegated or would they be replaced?Villafancd (talk) 22:54, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't really an importnat tournament, relegation shouldn't matter, but i guess clubs are choosen/invited from the current 20 croip, so even if someone was relegated, then it wouldn't realyl take effect until the year after, the club in question would still kind of have Premier Status as they would only just have been relegated, so if anything they would be in the memory even more. Premier League Summer Series

There is mention in this article of the Premier League's preference for this tournament to be a worldwide pre-season event, rather than just in Asia. We have recently had announcement of the Premier League Summer Series in the United States - which appears to be the spiritual successor to the Asia Trophy.

Should a separate article be created for the Summer Series, or should this article be updated with the new tournament/name? Bored0stiff (talk) 08:59, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
