8m in height and up to 150cm in diameter? That is 25 foot tall and nearly 5 foot in diameter. Seems unlikely — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.78.147.74 (talk) 17:26, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is the meaning of tan(檀) in Chinese? In fact ,the original meaning of tan is good wood, which you can find in a book called shijing(a collection of poems,2500 years ago). What is tanxiang(檀香) in Chinese?it means Santalum album. What is the meaning of zitan(紫檀)/xiaoyezitan(小叶紫檀) in Chinese? it means Pterocarpus santalinus. In China Pterocarpus santalinus furniture developed in Qing Dynasty periods. If you find the word zitan in a book writed before Qing or late ming, that zitan must not mean Pterocarpus santalinus. Classic Chinese hard wood furniture is part of Classic Chinese furniture.Classic Chinese hard wood furniture was developed from late Ming Dynasty periods(mid 16 century-mid 17 century,隆庆、万历-崇祯).At first, people used Dalbergia odorifera(黄花梨 huanghuali),but in late 18 century(乾隆),people turned to Pterocarpus santalinus. By the way,in Japanese, 紫檀 means some Dalbergia wood.. --小飞毛腿导弹 (talk) 11:05, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

confirmation of identity of Pterocarpus santalinus in pictures

Hai, Some of the pictures in gallery and Wikimedia related to Pterocarpus santalinus appears to be not related to Pterocarpus santalinus. (Especially in the article, under more pictures, first five and the video in the related wikimedia appears to be not related to Pterocarpus santalinus). In general, red sanders have trifoliate or pentafoliate round or oval leaves, each leaf with a notch on top center. I request the editors to confirm the identity. I am admitting that I am new to this Wikiworld, and learning. regards --Bmantha (talk) 04:09, 7 January 2021 (UTC) (Dr. Rama Murty) --Bmantha (talk) 09:39, 7 January 2021 (UTC) (Dr. Rama Murty)[reply]
