Putting this section here fore discussion and better support. As is, and regardless of whether the events occurred around the time of the George Floyd murder, it only talks about police brutality, not racist actions committed by the police. Police brutality and racism

Some police officers assert that a poor young man in a wealthy area is sufficient justification to arrest him, because it appears "he is up to something." The National Survey on Discrimination () provides more evidence of this reality, because appearance is the main reason why people report having felt discriminated against.

On March 29, 2020, in the US border city of Tijuana, in the state of Baja California, Yair López Jiménez, a homeless man, was allegedly killed by a municipal police officer who crushed his neck with one of his boots until he suffocated. The events were made by a video online depicting municipal police officers using excess violence at a gas station. The case gained visibility after the murder of George Floyd by police in the US, because of the similarities between the two cases.

On May 4, 2020, in the Mexican town of Ixtlahuacán, Mexican citizen Alejandro Giovanni López, a 30-year-old bricklayer, died of a head injury hours after being beaten by the police while in custody. On June 4 – synchronously with the protests over the murder of George Floyd – about 1,000 people gathered to protest outside the government palace of Guadalajara, the capital city of the state of Jalisco, carrying banners and shouting "The police don't take care of me, they kill me”. Giovanni was arrested for allegedly not wearing a mask in the midst of the coronavirus emergency.
