The previous state of the article listed the first of the interior degrees as Novice Equarrie. As the next degree is Knight Beneficent, I would expect this degree to be Esquire, but what I can find indicates that "equarrie" means "quarried (stone)" and so I have translated it. I thought so, but it seems that equerry comes from the same root as esquire, and means the boss of the stable. "Equarrie," on the other hand, apparently comes from "quarry." We really need help from someone expert in French. J S Ayer (talk) 01:51, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You were apparently right; this site http://www.kingsolomonslodge.org/freemasonry/cbcs.php says "Ecuyer" rather than "Equarrie" so I assume that the second version is garbled. Over the centuries, that happens. J S Ayer (talk) 04:44, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
