The translation of the Ovid text from Latin is incorrect. The passage "Ultima Tarquinius Romanæ gentis habebat/ regna" cannot mean "The last of teh Tarquins...". Grammatically, "ultima" cannot refer to "Tarquinius". Instead, it must refer to "regna": "Tarquinius possessed the last reigns..."
