Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on May 24, 2020.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Robert De Niro won the first of his two Academy Awards for his portrayal of the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II?

What commercial?

can someone please add the commercial Jim Carrey is referring to HERE ? i don't know what is that, but surely's not among the ones listed below. thank you --Wikinuno (talk) 10:25, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I swear that I saw Rober De Niro as a featured extra in the movie "Palm Springs Weekend". He was with a group of other guys (the one closest to the camera) when the 'coach' was talking to them, telling them not to drink, smoke, and (have fun) over the weekend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.74.27.131 (talk) 04:02, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

is done. Hook is interesting and sourced; I added "the" before "Academy Award". I'd also like to suggest the following
But the original works fine too if preferred. Good to go! – Rhain 00:10, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
: New reviewer needed to approve ALT1. Thanks. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 16:52, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I came by to help. I was going to check out ALT1 but then I see that the original hook that someone said was OK has been scored out without a reason.... and at that point I lost interest. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding. Victuallers (talk) 15:10, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Victuallers, I, the nominator struck the original hook because I preferred the ALT1. I can reverse this if you prefer the first hook. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 14:41, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can see that you might prefer the second one, but DYK (ie you) requests that someone approves it and then I think why bother, someone else may score that one out as well. We had an approved hook all ready to go ... and now the work is undone with no replacement. It undid good work and cut the number of approved hooks by one when it was just fine. I had a similar occasion recently where I volunteered time after being invited by user:Valeree and then after I had approved it and moved to approved hooks then another set of people (inc Valeree) discussed some minor preferences about the hook that was already approved. Its fine to do this, but it makes no sense to ask for new volunteers when there is time for the existing ones to rethink work that is perfectly fine. DYK seems to prefer the elusive "better" even if it means discarding the "good". <rant/> Victuallers
  • ALT0a:... that Robert De Niro won the first of his two Academy Awards for his portrayal of the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather?
  • ALT2:... that six of the films of Robert De Niro have been inducted into the United States National Film Registry?"Complete National Film Registry Listing". Library of Congress. Retrieved 2020-05-16.
  • I am approving Alt1a. It is cited. However, I think it doesn't focus on De Niro. I am offering two alternates for the promoter to consider. --evrik (talk) 04:48, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I came by to promote this. I don't see an ALT1a. I agree with evrik that ALT1 is a bit convoluted and doesn't focus well on the subject. I like ALT0a, and have added the name of the film so every reader will get it, but a few words need to be added to the article to say this was his first Academy Award. Yoninah (talk) 13:34, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks, and I also see you added a cite. Restoring tick for ALT0a per Rhain's review. Yoninah (talk) 15:21, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
