Religion

Roma people in Greece are not assimilated to the population. They are Greek subjects and they are conscripted and do not acquire a greek ethnic identity. The same is true for the muslim Roma in Western Thrace. They are to be classified as a different ethnic group and of course not as Turks. In reality, they were considered outcasts in the Ottoman times, though they were muslims. The muslim population in Western Thrace should be divided in three subgroups, i.e. Turkish (c. 55%), Bulgarian/Pomaks (c. 35%) and Roma (c. 10%). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.75.10.86 (talk) 11:49, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arlije

I see this page was once named Arlije, but why they page was renamed in romani people in greece ???

Not all Roma people in Greece are belong to the Erlides. They are many differen subgroups of Roma in Greece. The Erli / Erlides are a Muslim roma subgroup in Greece, but the Arlije / Arli are Muslim Roma in North Macedonia and Kosovo. The word Arlije, Arli, Erli, Erlides derived from the Turkish word Yerli. The Arlije speak Arli a dialect of balkan romani.
