Is arrhythmia part of Russell's sign? Also, I put it in Eponymous medical signs but I'd love a reference for this (who's Russell?) --os 04:48, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arrhythmia, no (related to bulimia, perhaps, but not relevant to this article). Erythema, like the article points to, yes--it simply means redness from inflammation and is a sign of the irritation that leads to the scarring that is Russel's Sign (a sort of foreshadowing for the development of the scarring, but temporary). However, I don't think it's particularly needed information for this article, as it's surmisable that when the knuckles are repeatedly irritated to the point of eventually developing scarring, there'll be some redness in the interim. Why is a citation needed? There are already citations proving that Russell's sign is caused by self-induced vomiting using the hands, so it logically follows that if the hands are not used, Russell's sign will not exist. Superamario64 (talk) 04:47, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
