I recently changed the title of this article from Salvatore or Salvadore based on two facts. First, the Italian wikipedia article is spelled Salvadore. This is what first alerted me to the need for a possible name change. I checked Grove and found the name listed as follows: Cammarano, Salvadore [Salvatore]. This would appear to indicate that Salvadore is the more accurate spelling and Salvatore is an anglicanized spelling of Cammarano's first name. I decided to trust Grove and the Italian wikipedians. Another editor expressed a concern on my talk page over the spelling change. I personally am not going to kick up a fuss if it gets changed back but I was wondering what other editors thought. Italian names is not an area in which I am highly familiar with so perhaps someone with more knowledge would care to comment. All the best.
I fully concur with this change. Good catch! His first name is listed as Salvadore not only in The New Grove Dictionary of Opera but also in virtually all other reference works and on printed libretti. See: [1]. Both "Salvadore" and "Salvatore" are used as first names in Italian. The latter form is more common now, which may account for the occasional discrepancy. Thank you voceditenore, but honestly it was just luck that I noticed the discrepancy. Sorry it took me a while to respond; I forgot to add this page to my watchlist. It appears I was wrong about the Anglicanized reasoning but right about changing the name per your comments. Thanks for taking the time to research!
