The Arabic and Ottoman forms of this music are different, and so are their spellings. Sema'i is Arabic, Semai is Turkish.

This is an Ottoman form of music, why was there a link to Arabic music? why is there an Arabic transliteration? Why was the basic information incorrect?! Semai is a piece in 3 or 6, not 10. Arabic speaking schools of music have their own forms that are distinct from each other, let alone the differences all those schools have with the Turkish Ottoman forms, to say that they're all the same is at the very least, not up to Wikipedia's standards. It's important to keep the music related entries in Wikipedia as exact and helpful as possible. To say that Arabs and Ottomans played the same music with the same names is like saying Chinese music and Japanese music are the same. Why be so scared to show the differences between peoples? Doesn't that celebrate their art more than throwing it all together in a big pile of personal politics? 18:23, 22 March 2010 (UTC)animaphone
