I don't believe that this figure accurately shows the paths of the light rays deviated by a non-uniformity in the test section. My understanding is that the deviated rays are parallel to themselves, but now travel at a slight angle relative to the undeviated rays. When they reflect off of the second mirror, they also come to a focus in the plane of the knife edge. If the deviation is in the correct direction, the focused spot from the deviated rays misses the knife edge and is captured by the camera. Balesatmit (talk) 20:13, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
