I can find no independent sources to verify the role of 'Stephen "Roy" Sherlock'. The Wikipedia text below is widely re-used (it's even been included in a UNDP report in 2010).

The Sennar Dam is a dam on the Blue Nile near the town of Sennar, Sudan. It was built in 1925 by the British engineer, desert explorer and adventurer, Stephen "Roy" Sherlock, under the direction of Weetman Pearson. The dam is 3025 meters (9925 feet) long, with a maximum height of 40 meters (130 feet). It provides water for crop irrigation in the Al Jazirah region. Once completed, the dam was managed by Roy Sherlock until the 1970s.

If anyone can provide some independent sources regarding Sherlock, please add them. If not, then I will delete the mentions as most of the contemporary records are mainly focused on the roles of Pearson employees, of Murdoch MacDonald and Oswald Prowde. My father, Stephen Roy Sherlock (known as Roy) was the engineer responsible to the Sudanese government for the Sennar dam from the 1930's until about 1959. I am trying to find out more detail for our family history. I have box of glass slides of the construction of the dam - quite astonishing sights. When I've finished scanning them I may post a couple here if anyone is interested. There is one of the memorial plaques listing people but I think it will be unreadable.Sebmelmoth (talk) 18:00, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
