Not a torch song

I have to take issue with this being designated a torch song (second paragraph of introduction), and with the description of a torch song as being "about a man who betrayed or abused the woman".

A torch song is most commonly about lost or unrequited love, not betrayal or abuse; "carrying a torch" for someone means still being in love with someone who has left you, or is an unrequited love.

In any case, this song is certainly not about lost or unrequited love, let alone betrayal or abuse.

I propose the following changes:

1. Remove "A torch song, according to Philip Furia and Michael Lasser" from the sentence starting with that.

2. Retain the quotes in that sentence, and the reference to Furia and Lasser.

3. Remove the sentence starting with "They state that it is unusual ...". They may have stated all that, but it is simply wrong that most torch songs are "about a man who betrayed or abused the woman" (see Torch Song article).

Bob Dylan

Dylan sang it about a man. I found the recording on YouTube. Don’t know the album. 2601:646:200:2D70:D910:59F9:38CC:C401 (talk) 07:41, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
