"Civilian Service"
Do we have a source of any kind for the term "civilian service" being used as an official translation of "siviilipalvelus"? I realise this is a toughy from the point-of-view that nothing of the sort really exists in the Anglophone world. I would personally prefer the term "civil service", but I also do realise the inherent problem of mixing it up with
YLE sadly isn't a lot of help here. Until sometime last year, Yle News did refer to siviilipalvelus as "civilian service", but from the last few articles I've read, they've gone to using civil service without explanation.
