Spam no longer contains "Pork Shoulder and Ham". The ingredients have changed, and this article must change to reflect the current reality. The ingredients as of 04/2017 begin with "Pork with ham ..." and continue from there. No mention of pork shoulder. So please, let's let the article reflect this important change. There are a few references throughout Wikipedia that link to the brand-name product loof as Spam (food)#Israel which no longer exists and, as best I can tell, hasn't for some time. See, e.g., Shakshouka, Loof. This was commonly known as "Israel’s kosher alternative to Spam," though it was made of beef and basically minced corned-beef. Someone may have wisdom as to whether the section can and should be recovered or those links killed off or redirected.Czrisher (talk) 13:25, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For reference, the section heading "Israel" was deleted 20:37, 25 April 2019 by User:Nightscream, with the note, "You cannot divide a section into only one subsection". The body of that section was kept under an old supersection titled "Middle East".

This section titled "Middle East" was deleted 14:07, 5 July 2021 by User:Zooks527, with the note, "Deleted 'Middle East' section, which, while directed towards canned meat, had nothing to do with Spam." Thatsme314 (talk) 03:56, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I used to read a different story: post-WWII demand for canned food was significantly lower, especially for SPAM; so the company started to advertise SPAM as hard as possible. 'Spam has long had a somewhat dubious reputation in the United States and (to a lesser degree) in the United Kingdom as a poverty food. The image of Spam as a low-cost meat product gave rise to the Scottish colloquial term "Spam valley" to describe certain affluent housing areas where residents appear to be wealthy but, in reality, may be living at poverty levels.' I don't understand why it sais to a 'lesser degree in the UK' and then quotes slang from Scotland which very strongly hints at it being considered poverty food in the UK. This seems contradictory and is unsourced. From personal experience this is also untrue. Spam is far more regarded as poverty food in the UK compared to the US.
