Novel?

I thought this was non-fiction. Doesn't characterizing it as a novel imply it's fiction?

Just moved it back to book. Emperor001 (talk) 17:00, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The claim that John Fancy was the inspiration for the book is not in the obituary reference and is unsubstantiated. Kerichill (talk) 20:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some thoughts re expanding this wiki.

real event book film.

One might look for reliable sources that discuss making the book from the facts of the real event, and making the movie from the material in the book. Please note that discussion of making the film from real events, or innaccuracies in the film, is not appropriate here unless it can be discussed in terms of being inconsistent with the material in the book, and it would require a reliable source for the discussion. It would be inappropriate to have a discussion in the wiki of

real event film .

200 men were to escape, not 220...?

According to this article, only 200 men were to escape, not 220 as this wiki article states. 24.0.153.224 (talk) 19:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

gotta be fake

the last sentence of of the summary says: In the aftermath of the escape, according to Brickhill, 5,000,000 Germans spent time looking for the prisoners, many of them full time for weeks.[9] can someone who has the book please check that figure (pg 279 according to the ref). five MILLION? really? that's got to be a vandalized number, no? that's double the entire number of personnel in the whole Wehrmacht in 1945 --at least according to our wiki article there. • I think he means that ordinary Germans - farmers, peasant workers, housewives etc.. (especially those that live on the land) - were required to spend some time searching. 213.114.48.8 (talk) 10:53, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
