I don't quite know how to edit the talk page, but I'll just put my comments here. I must take issue with this article. First of all there is a "Trivia" section, discouraged by Wikipedia, and there was usage of the first person i.e. "Suffice to say that I was reminded of..." It's the person's own view, and a highly personalized literary analysis. That's not how an encyclopedia article should be. I'd fix it myself but I have yet to read the book and I'm very busy, so sorry to seem like a hypocrite. Agreed. I'll put in a template to indicate the problems of this article. I haven't read the book either, so I wouldn't be the first guy to correct the POV crap in the article. I guess putting in a notification (which I'll do in a few moments from now) will at least indicate that the article is not perfect.

I've tried to hack the article down to remove personal opinion (and over-reliance on [incoherent] quotations from reviews). I've reverted to a version from a few weeks ago and tidied up a little bit. I've subsequently add a couple of paragraphs to describe the novel's structure / framing device more clearly. Anyway, I hope this helps. Cheers, --PLUMBAGO 13:38, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. In passing, I finished the book last night and was just curious to see what WP had to say about it.

There is a section which states that Balram quotes 36,000,004 Hindu gods. He actually states there 36,000,000 Hindu gods, one Muslim god, and three Christian gods for a total of 36,000,004. Damn did someone decided to copy and paste their entire high school English critical analysis essay into this page or what???? Why has a blog post been used in the external links as a "criticism" of the book. It seems to me like a promotion for a personal blog. I suggest that it be removed, or replaced with a review from a reputed source. 59.178.53.249 (talk)

Of all the books I have read over the years, I found The White Tiger hard to read. It did not maintain my interest and I forced myself to keep reading at times. In fact it is not finished yet. It is not the cultural aspect but the style which tries to be colloquial and fails; unlike the Kite Runner which conveys people, background and culture so well. That novel was 'driven' by the need to 'know'. This one is dull. In fact I have just read The Secret Scripture which many say should have won the prize and I couldn't put it down; reading it in 4 days. It's about style. I can't understand how you judges come to your conclusion but this time ii is flawed; as was the case with 'The Gathering' tedious detail dragged out for the sake of it. Mary Flood
