Rename

--Vin09(talk) 09:53, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Changing of name from Tirupati Airport to Sri Venkateswara Airport is a resolution passed by state government. It is yet to get the approval from Union Civil Aviation Ministry, which is the main authority in renaming Airports. Same applies to Vijayawada Airport. We can move it when it gets official announcement from AAI-- I am also waiting fro that :) .And I am not sure whether Tirupati Airport is upgraded to International status. May be we can consider renaming it to Tirupati International Airport, if its really upgraded.

International status of Tirupati Airport

Hello LeoFrank,

I could notice that you are frequently reverting the international status of the Tirupati airport. Tirupati airport was accorded International tag and approved by president and cabinet of Indian government in 2017. Just because of fact that no international operators yet , airport cannot be called domestic. Since the tag was accorded, from day 1 the airport has to be referred as international. In Indian context , for a domestic airport to convert into international there is a specific procedure followed. Garuda terminal is the international terminal inaugurated by prime minister of India in 2015. Later the international tag was accorded and approved by Indian government with final nod from president of India thus enacting the same. Here on the airport is being listed under International airports despite there are NIL international flights. It takes time for operators to launch the same post the international status and it cannot happen overnight. Am neither asking to move the page to a name embedded with International nor to rename it to international. I am only changing the status as International and it has to be 'public international airport' not 'public domestic airport'. Below are the valid references extracted from the government website of AAI. https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/traffic-news/Jun2k18annex3.pdf https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/national-register/Tirupati%20REPORT.pdf We have to abide by the official records and hence I request you to discuss thoroughly before reverting and present the sufficient proofs if you have any. One cannot revert the same based on generic assumptions or personal definitions.By LovSLif (talk) 06:07, 14 August 2018 (UTC) CUSTOMS/IMMIGRATION facilities for passengers at airport is major criteria for international airports and those are already open /available at Tirupati airport. Please refer below official link for the same https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/national-register/Tirupati%20REPORT.pdf. Tirupati was officially declared international post all approvals/facilities provided by government of India in June 2017. By LovSLif (talk) 06:25, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
User:LeoFrank, why are you indulging edit war on article? One cannot revert official provlet. Discuss here with your points. Looping in another active user in this matter.
User:IM3847, could you please provide your view on this. The above user is not responding to the discussion but rather indulging in edit wars. Need support of other users like you to take it further. By LovSLif (talk) 02:50, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:IM3847, Totally agree with your point. I am not suggesting to have international in article title until flights are operated, What am asking is the below correction.
"Tirupati Airport[4] (IATA: TIR, ICAO: VOTP) is a public international airport at Renigunta, a part of Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India." in line with Vijayawada airport.
But User:LeoFrank is frequently reverting to
"Tirupati Airport[4] (IATA: TIR, ICAO: VOTP) is a public domestic airport at Renigunta, a part of Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India."
Definition of International airport:
An international airport is an airport with customs and border control facilities enabling passengers to travel between countries.
> Tirupati aiport has got customs and border control facilities enabling passengers to travel between countries. Thus enabling international operators to start their flights.
> It is an upgraded international aiport and cannot be termed domestic just because the international flight operators yet to start their services. By LovSLif (talk) 09:11, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@IM3847: @LovSLif: Tirupati International Airport may not be in the form of article title, but this information can't be hidden from the article as it had official GOs issued by Govt. My suggestion would be to add a sentence as it is that "Tirupati airport had been accorded with international status by govt. of India however international flights are yet to be started." (or) add it in similar to Vijayawada airport (or) something like this? We can change this later once international flights are started. aggi007(talk) 09:30, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

International tag for Tirupati airport

Dear All,

This is regarding international status of tirupati airport IATA: TIR and ICAO: VOTP in India. This airport was declared international by Government of India in June 2017. This airport has got all immigration and custom facilities established and post which this was added as 20th public international airport by current govenment of India. An airport to become International as per Indian aviation rules, an airport is deemed international post customs and immigration facities. It has to first get environment clearnace followed by establishing customs and immigration facilities. This Tirupati airport has got all the above mandatory facilities and thus declared international in june 2017 by Indian aviation ministry. Below are the copy of official reference from government of india.

1. https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/traffic-news/Jun2k18annex3.pdf

2. https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/national-register/Tirupati%20REPORT.pdf

3. https://www.aai.aero/sites/default/files/national-register/Tirupati%20REPORT.pdf Hence I have added international tag in article main paragraph. There is a user called 'LeoFrank' was enaginging in frequest reversion of the above fact and deeming it as 'domestic airport' in article just because no international operator/flight yet from airport. He says airport shall be first becomes customs airport and then converts to international which is not at all correct. In india if I consider few airports like Coimbatore, kochi, trichy and vijayawada these are converted from domestic to international or directly built international cum domestic. User fails to produce any reference to his statements and indulging to override government data which was passed by official GO. User is also attacking me personally. He says am native of tirupati city and hence I am fighting but this is incorrect. I am just fighting aginst wrong content. He says 'IATA gives definition to airports' this says he is not aware about IATA well. User:LeoFrank is indulging in edit war to revert international tag in article description.

@All I have raised this matter to DRN and I have been asked by DRN to discuss more on talk page. I request all of you to provide your feedback. Looping in users: User:IM3847 ,User:aggi007 By LovSLif (talk) 07:31, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tirupati is an International Airport, but its article name may or may not represent it, that wasn't mandatory. We can see Vijayawada Airport, which got more importance and flight movement compared to Tirupati, but hasn't got the tag International in it. There are multiple examples around the globe.--IM3847 (talk) 11:13, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@IM3847 (talk) Agree. International tag in the name of article is not a matter of concern but rather briefing it as 'Domestic airport' in main paragraph is not correct is it. By LovSLif (talk) 06:21, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it incorrect to mention it as domestic airport, even it doesn't have international connectivity. If I'm not wrong, AAI has given the tag 'International' to both of these airports.--IM3847 (talk) 11:13, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:LeoFrank Any further comments from your end or you still stick to reverting the facts? By LovSLif (talk) 04:47, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

pretty well co-ordinated effort. If you had showed some reasonable intentions on your talk rather than writing all those beautiful messages, this could have been sorted out right at your talk itself. LeoFrank  Talk 10:20, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply

This discussion proves my stand that this airport is not international!  LeoFrank  Talk 18:39, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This discussion does not prove that airport is domestic but rather supported by everyone that it is an approved international Airport. What gets proved is that you stand by incorrect content which is against official records. By LovSLif (talk) 16:18, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
