English names

Why do names of icelandic places need to have english spelling instead of the native one? I mean is there a tradition of Vadlaheidi instead of Vaðlaheiði? Husavik instead of Húsavík? --Berserkur (talk) 00:27, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
