Request for opinion from the Medicine WikiProject

After some basic clean-up, I'm inclined to accept this draft for publication. But before doing that, I'd like to hear from the Medicine WikiProject. NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:53, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Basic clean-up

@BarracudaMC: While we're waiting to see what the folks at WikiProject Medicine think, I'll start a discussion about the basic cleaning-up that might be needed. I have four items:

  1. I understand that you want to maintain a certain numbering system in the Table of Contents and that you are doing this by striking through the headers of any empty classifications. But this just doesn't look good. Also, sooner or later some editor is going to amble by and remove those headers without realizing why they are there. So how about unstriking them, but then adding a message in that sub-section that says something like "no listings in this classification"?
  2. The footnotes seem unnecessary. There's an awful lot of "white space" here, so why not just bring the footnotes into the main text? Not only will it be a more efficient use of the screen space, it will also be a benefit to anyone who chooses to print the article for off-line reference.
  3. I have a similar concern about the little super-scripted alphas. On my display, they're barely visible. Here too, why not bring that message into the main text? I do see that, unlike the previous comment, this would add a bit of repetition to the text. And if you think it would be too much repetition, then how about duplicating the message at the top of the article (as a separate final paragraph of the lede)? That way, at least, the reader will be alerted to the need to look out for those little super-scripted alphas.
  4. Something odd is going on in the entries under Prostaglandin E.

I look forward to your response. NewYorkActuary (talk) 21:00, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Ignore the statement in the blue box about not editing the draft. The box is there just to alert other reviewers that this one is already being looked at. NewYorkActuary (talk) 21:15, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your input.
  1. I agree completely. I was unsure how best to address those sections without disrupting the official numbering system, but the manner that you have suggested is much better than what I originally put.
  2. Good point. Again, I was unsure of the best course of action, but, in the end, I decided to emulate the format used in the adult list of essential medicines article. There is a lot of empty space, but I might hold off on editing these to see the input of others.
  3. I like this suggestion a lot too. The reader is probably best served knowing what the alpha means right from the lede. I'm going to move that text to the preamble now.
  4. Good catch! I'll remedy that immediately.

Again, your recommendations and guidance are much appreciated. BarracudaMc 11:56, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS Ticket

Having been informed that an OTRS ticket may be necessary for this article, I am going to look into obtaining one of these. However, it may take me a while to get around to doing this, and so, if anyone has experience in this area, they are, of course, welcome to intervene and try to obtain the ticket. The Talk page for the adult list has some further details about the OTRS ticket. BarracudaMc 14:34, 28 April 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by BarracudaMc (talkcontribs)
