2019-2020 black summer fires

They helped out at Cobargo, Quaama, and Bermagui too. 1.144.108.67 (talk) 15:25, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just did a brief bullet point on it. This subsequent update source would also be helpful for elaboration

Does this organization receive regular funding form the the US government?

I've reviewed its website and it doesn't clearly say where funding comes from. Does this NGO receive government funds and if so what percent of its projects involve them? Its plan to spend 1 billion dollars on food support for crisis over the next ten years is a large number, yet the website says little about where this will come from. More detail on its funding is important for this article. In addition, it would be good to know how its supporting kitchens work with the organization. Is it all done for free or are people getting paid for their services. Finally, is there any profit and if so in what form? Is it a business or an NGO? How are its staff paid? 2405:9800:BA00:4199:9573:2503:B7B2:AD6F (talk) 23:53, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Split the Gaza strike incident into a separate article

The Gaza strike article is now being elaborated with information not central about the aid organisation. I think it should be split at the current rate of expansion. User:The Great Mule of Eupatoria maybe you seem keen to start? Y. Dongchen (talk) 08:48, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I concede that I didn't properly think about it. It could be moved to some timeline article about certain kinds of casualties during this war, but a separate article wouldn't make sense. Y. Dongchen (talk) 09:08, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think so, especially with the increasing reports and notability. Definitely better to be split The Great Mule of Eupatoria (talk) 10:05, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has already been split:

Thank you. The new article needs some copy-editing. But otherwise it seems amply sourced. NPOV could be improved somewhat. And maybe it should be renamed to "Airstrike on World Central Kitchen (2024)". In any case I'll create a discussion on the talkpage there.
PS I meant "this article" as opposed to "the Gaza strike article" in my original comment. Y. Dongchen (talk) 10:37, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Prospective inclusion of images from WCK ostensibly CC BY compatible

I have made an inquiry to WCK for a clarification on the CC BY notice on their "media kit" page https://wck.org/resources/media-kit. The email [email protected] seems to be defunct following no response my similar request on this two weeks ago. I am awaiting a response from a message sent to [email protected]. Y. Thanks for taking the initiative. Makeandtoss (talk) 09:05, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

EPER edit request: modify lead about the casualties

Editing request due to passage being within the Arab–Israeli conflict topic area

  • What I think should be changed (format using textdiff)
    :
The organisation has suffered casualties in areas of armed conflict, including one volunteer in Kharkiv in 2023 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and seven aid workers were killed during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.
    +
The organisation has suffered casualties in areas of armed conflict, including one volunteer in Kharkiv by a Russian missile in 2023, and seven of its workers in the Gaza Strip by Israeli drone strikes in 2024.
  • Why it should be changed:
    • The second
      verbal phrase
"were killed" is redundant, incongruent with the description of the Kharkiv incident and interrupts the flow
    • Puts less emphasis on the broader wars in which they happened, instead focussing on the specific engagements
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): unchanged

Partly done: I have removed "were killed" as I concur that it is an incongruent verbal phrase. I have declined to remove the link to Russian invasion of Ukraine as I feel it is beneficial for the reader to easily click the link to read our article on the responsible conflict. —Sirdog (talk) 07:31, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
