Juice (2017 film)

Created by Shshshsh (talk). Self-nominated at 14:41, 18 March 2022 (UTC).

Interesting film, on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. I'm sorry, I don't like the hook. I didn't even get that it plays in India. How about mentioning only one award, and say more about the film, like the star being expressive by silence? - In the article: it took me until the reception section to understand what's special about the film, - and "gender discrimination" seems a bit too general. The plot section is so boring that the article might be better without it ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:09, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt: Thank you. What do you think about,
ALT1: ... that actress Shefali Shah, who was praised for communicating emotions through silence in the Indian short film Juice, won a Filmfare Short Film Award for Best Actress?
or,
ALT2: ... that the Indian short film Juice, which was praised for depicting "the normalized patriarchy and misogyny in middle-class Indian homes", won a Filmfare Short Film Award for Best Film?
If you have any other particular ideas, please offer them. ShahidTalk2me 00:24, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Thank you that's good material. I'd go for ALT2 because it's about the film. You might add "starring" and her name, and replace the longish quote (which would need some clumsy "according to a reviewer") by something shorter. If you'd prefer ALT1, the film should still be the first thing mentioned, or the clicks go to her (fine if that's want you want). Rather mention the film award if the rest of the hook is about her. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:41, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Additionally: you could just say (in all hooks) "two Filmfare Short Film Awards", and make readers curious which.
Gerda Arendt: So, either:
ALT1a: ... that the Indian short film Juice won actress Shefali Shah critical praise for communicating emotions through silence and a Filmfare Short Film Award for Best Actress?
or:
ALT2a: ... that the short film Juice starring Shefali Shah was praised for its depiction of patriarchy in middle-class Indian families and won two Filmfare Short Film Awards?
What do you say? ShahidTalk2me 10:03, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Getting better ;) - Let's focus on promising ALT2a. I'd get the awards to the front, and then no need to say "praised" but perhaps "critical of the norm of patriarchy" or whatever the sources support. - Otherwise it reads as supporting it, no? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:18, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt: Please feel free to write up a version because I'm not sure what you actually mean. I can't see how to move the awards to the front. What do you think about:
ALT2b: ... that the 2017 short film Juice, starring Shefali Shah, presented a critical commentary on patriarchy in middle-class Indian families and won two Filmfare Short Film Awards?
The reason I offered the first hook on actress Shefali Shah is because the film is mostly associated with her performance. ShahidTalk2me 11:26, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
I hear you, and the problem is that I can't word a hook, or we need another reviewer. I can, however, reorder a given hook, so what do think about:
ALT1b: ... that the Indian short film Juice won actress Shefali Shah critical praise and a Filmfare Award for communicating emotions through silence?
ALT2c: ... that in Juice, a 2017 film awarded two Filmfare Short Film Awards, Shefali Shah stars in a critical commentary on patriarchy in middle-class Indian families?
the four left, 2 with a focus on an actress, 2 with criticism of patriarchy. Open to variations. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:03, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
WP:SYN
. I also think the entire silence thing could be unclear and the subject of the film is more important despite her celebrated performance. What do you say about:
ALT2d: ... that the 2017 short film Juice, starring Shefali Shah as a middle-class Indian wife defying patriarchal norms, won two Filmfare Short Film Awards?
ALT2e: ... that the 2017 short film Juice, starring Shefali Shah in a critical commentary on patriarchy in middle-class Indian families, won two Filmfare Short Film Awards?
I think these two are finally closer to what we want aren't they. ShahidTalk2me 12:36, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
now three two left, and thank you for still improving! I'm not so happy with saying "short film" twice, but it's far away from each other. Slight preference for ALT2d because of "defying" ;) - next time please number your versions - I hope to still see this in March, women's month. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:42, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
