Madara Uchiha

  • ... that the article Madara Uchiha was created on 3rd September, 2019 through Article for Creation.

Created by AbhiMukh97 (talk). Self-nominated at 08:01, 6 September 2019 (UTC).

I revised the reception a bit and thought about this:
  • Did you know that while Madara Uchiha is one of the final antagonists of Naruto he does not make his first appearance until the final arc?
  • Did you know that Madara Uchiha has been impersonated by Obito Uchiha for most of his appearances in Naruto?
  • ALT4: ... that Madara Uchiha's surprising debut in the series confused his own English voice actor Neil Kaplan about how should he handle his characterization? "GAMRs Ep 11 Extras - Optimoose Kaplan: Pre-show banter". Gamr. Retrieved August 31, 2019.

@Narutolovehinata5:

The hook still sounds a bit niche and might not appeal so much to those unfamiliar with anime. Maybe something else could be proposed here? Possible suggestions could include how he was created as part of an effort to create characters that could "resolve conflicts as opposed to killing each other", or maybe something about the reception he received?

Some of the facts that I found interesting about Madara are:

  • He lived around 120 years before his official death in the manga.
  • Despite being a sage mode user, he is not listed as one in the databooks.
  • While reviving Madara, Kishimoto himself became confused about the difference between impure world reincarnation and Rinne-rebirth.
  • Edo Madara is introduced in series to give Naruto, someone to beat.
  • According to Mangaka Kishimoto, Madara is a character without weakness.

All of these facts are in-universe facts, meaning they deal with the plot of Naruto. However, here at DYK, it is required that hooks about characters need to be about the real world, meaning that generally, hooks can't be about events that take place in the Naruto series. Perhaps

What about this:

  • Unlike other shonen manga, Naruto resolves conflicts as opposed to killing each other, setting their differences aside. Many of the Naruto fans complained about this. Edo Madara is introduced in series to give Naruto someone to beat.

@AbhiMukh97: That kinda works but it needs to be written from a perspective common readers who might not know the series. For example,

  • ALT5: ... that Madara Uchiha was introduced as a strong villain who could not settle his differences with the main characters in the Naruto series in contrast to previous antagonists?

Sorry, my requests are busy with Kogami's and Dazai's article to make one for Madara.Tintor2 (talk) 20:05, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
I haven't finished reading yet, but I have noticed that there are some quotes and sentences that need citations. In the 'Creation and design' section, there are some words in quotation marks which do not have a citation to their source. Also, there are several sentences which say things like "Kishimoto felt the need ...", "According to Kishimoto ...", "Kishimoto found the idea ..." Although these are not direct quotes, they are attributing thoughts and intentions to Kishimoto. As there are several sources in that section which are interviews with Kishimoto, or convey his thoughts, you will need to place a citation to the exact source after each direct quote or each sentence that expresses what Kishimoto thought and intended.
Also, I don't think that it was decided which hook to use? I have added numbers to the two hooks which have not been crossed out (ALT4 and ALT5). Perhaps we can decide that they are OK, or perhaps we can think of others.
I will read more of the article, and let you know if I see any more things that need some work. Please ask me if you have any questions, too. Regards, RebeccaGreen (talk) 12:20, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
Just as a reply to Rebecca, but ALT5 might not be suitable as it seems to fall afoul of the in-universe rule. As such, for now, it might be a good idea to focus on ALT4 for now, and perhaps come up with additional suggestions if it doesn't work out.

The nominator's user page says that they are taking a wiki break, so it may be a while before they do any more editing on this article. As for ALT5, I agree it's in-universe as written, but if, say, a "strong villain" was introduced due to reader feedback, that could make it more out-of-universe. RebeccaGreen (talk) 10:45, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
I just received a message from Tintor saying that he will be unable to adopt this. 16:16, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
