Youth
In 1994, Abukusomo began his collegiate career at
North Carolina State where he played on the men's soccer team in 1995 and 1996.[2]
Professional
In 1997, he signed an
USL A-League.[5] In June, the Tampa Bay Mutiny called Abukusumo for one game.[6] On July 11, 2000, the Thunder traded him to the Raleigh Express for future considerations.[7] He finished the season in Raleigh.[8] He retired at the end of the season and returned to finish his college degree at the University of New Mexico

In 1998, Abukusumo played for the U.S. U-23 team.[9]
