"Brooklyn Baby" is a song by American singer Lana Del Rey from her third studio album, Ultraviolence (2014).
Background
In October 2013, Del Rey traveled to New York for a studio meeting with Lou Reed, but he died before they met. "I took the red eye, touched down at 7am... and two minutes later he died", Del Rey said.[1] She wrote "Brooklyn Baby" with Reed in mind, referencing him in the line, "Yeah my boyfriend's in a band / He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed."[2] Del Rey co-wrote the song with her then-boyfriend Barrie-James O'Neill when they were living together in Los Angeles.[3][4]
