Biography
Edwin Freeman was born on May 7, 1978 in
Flushing, New York
.
In 1988 Edwin won a citywide art contest for
New York Fire Department and was awarded by Mayor Ed Koch on April 13th
in a well publicized ceremony. Edwin grew up playing sports and had a short-lived football career in Junior High School with the Springfield Rifles that was cut short due to a knee injury.
Career
Edwin got his start in the film industry when a neighborhood friend introduced him to Film Producer Mark Skeete "Sunday Best". In 2000 the two teamed up to make the direct to DVD comedy, "Da Mission" in which he plays the character of Dee, a teenager who along with his friend Mag, played by Skeete, is trying to hustle his way into the music business.
In September of 2005, Edwin was cast for a role as a football player in Julie Taymor's "Across the Universe (film)." Heβs also been cast to play the prominent role of DJ Mister Cee in βNotorious (2009 film)" the biographical film about rapper βThe Notorious B.I.G.β
